Youth Ministry

WHY WE EXIST

Redeemer's youth ministry is for middle school (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12) students. We exist to provide students with an avenue for learning about God through His Scripture, and to help cultivate a community that is safe, fun, and reflective of Christ's mission and love. We see it as vital that students have access to a welcoming community in which they can grow, struggle, build friendships, be challenged, establish assurance in God’s gift of salvation, and trust Him as He leads them.

WHAT WE ARE DOING

One-on-One/Small Group Meetings

Students receive one-on-one/small group mentoring from “big brothers” and “big sisters” over lunches, dinners, and social activities & events. Older church members invest in students’ lives through shared activities and conversations in order to foster healthy growth in the formative years.

Weekly Bible Studies

We get together each week over pizza to fellowship and discuss the teachings of Jesus. Students are encouraged to ask questions, to think, and to talk about subjects including what it means to follow Christ, how we can know who we are in light of the Gospel, and how we can be the church for our city and beyond.

Service Opportunities

Redeemer participates in several service projects each year. Students have opportunities to plant gardens, serve meals for the homeless, and to labor in other various ways, all-the-while getting to know people in our city with differing stories from our own. We see this as an opportunity to unify the broader church in Memphis, and to widen our views of the world and our roles in it.

Annual Summer Beach Conference

Each summer, students are invited to attend RYM Summer Beach Conferences in Panama City Beach, Florida. Church leaders and students from all over the southeast meet to study God’s Word, strengthen existing friendships, make new friends, participate in tons of fun activities/events, and to relax at the beach.
